Trip Start

Guests will arrive throughout the day in Oaxaca; we'll meet up at 5:00pm on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at El Callejon Hotel (see Our Accommodations).

Arrival Airport

The best airport to fly into is Oaxaca's Xoxocotlán International Airport (OAX), about 25 minutes by car or taxi from our hotel. There are direct flights to OAX from Dallas-Fort Worth (3hrs) and Houston IAH (2 hrs 50min), as well as from Mexico City (60min).

We recommend taking the American Airlines flight AA 2468 on January 13th, 2022, which is a non-stop flight from Dallas to Oaxaca that arrives at 1:23 PM.

Transfer from Airport

We recommend booking a taxi through our hotel, El Callejon Hotel (see Accommodations), no more than 30 days ahead of your arrival. Contact El Callejon Hotel directly to arrange.

Alternatively, you can organize your own taxi upon arrival at OAX airport at the ‘Transportes’ desk located after baggage claim. The process is straightforward and hassle-free: You prepay for a collectivo (minibus) that’s either shared (around 150 pesos per person) or private (350 pesos per person). They'll give you a receipt and then you walk outside, where you’ll be directed into a vehicle. Oaxaca’s city center is about a 25-minute ride from the airport.

Pre-Arrival Accommodations

We stay in small boutique hotels on this trip—rooms go fast and daily rates change frequently. If you plan to arrive in Oaxaca prior to the beginning of our journey, we recommend staying at the El Callejon (see Our Accommodations), which is also our meeting spot on Day One. Let them know you will be on a trip with Modern Adventure, and would like to extend your stay prior to the trip start. We will try to ensure you stay in the same room from start to finish—however, please note that this is not always an option and rooms are subject to change.

Our adventure ends—after four days of unforgettable cultural and culinary exploration!—on Sunday, January 16, 2022.

Departure Airport

The closest airport is Oaxaca's OAX airport, about a 25-minute drive from our hotel. There is a daily flight direct to Dallas-Fort Worth that departs approximately at 8:00am.

Transfer to Airport

After breakfast on our last day, Modern Adventure will provide a complimentary group transfer to OAX airport.

If you are planning on extending your time in Oaxaca, it is your responsibility to arrange alternative transportation to the airport.
